Remote Project #4

So, I guess this is my final art project for a high school class. I was really happy with how these photos turned out because I think a lot of them have a spontaneity which my photos sometimes lack. Additionally, this project required a fair bit of trial and error because in many instances I had to set up my camera and use timer to take the image, which meant I had to set up the framing and exposure before I was in the frame. For the photos I took in my room, I was especially happy with the lighting. I was able to mix natural harsh sunlight coming through my windows with artificial light from lamp in a way which I think looks mostly natural and gives the images a nice contrast in terms of the shadows and highlights. I am also quite happy with how the editing came out overall. I've been experimenting with replicating the look of color film (particularly Kodak Ultra Max 400), and I think I came close in the final image. Additionally, I think in all the images there's a nice balance between a consistent feel of the images and experimentation with colors. I very rarely take images of myself, so it was a unique experience to image myself in this way, but I think it was mostly successful and I greatly enjoyed the process. However, I do wish that I had experimented more with clothing and the setting of the images. I only took the images in my room and the side of my house, and I think more locations could have made it more interesting.
