Advanced Photography Project #1

For this project, I worked off of the prompt "Megalomaniac" because I felt that some form of abuse of power was central to that word, and I find power to be an extremely compelling theme. When I thought about abuse of power I wanted to explore surveillance, so I shot the photos with a very high focal length to instill a feeling of distance and voyeurism in the photographs. Additionally, when I edited the photos I experimented with color and post processing effects in order to accentuate the similarities with surveillance footage. Overall I am happy with the images. Particularly, I was happy with the variety of stylistic choices in my editing. However, I wish I had waited for a less overcast day to shoot because the lack of light as a result of cloud-coverage prevented me from shooting at a higher shutter speed and caused soft shadows which I think made some of the images less engaging.
